Discrepancy between Videos and Police Report

Posted on Sunday 21 November 2004

In the videos of the pursuit, 3 patrol cars are in pursuit of Rick from beginning to end. First is Yonts(directly behind Rick). Then Rutledge (5937) and Bukowski (5918) travel together. Rutledge and Bukowski do not catch up to or even have visual sight of Yonts before reaching the intersection of Southwest Prkwy – Barnett Rd, less than 2 miles from the collision which ends the pursuit.

Map of Pursuit Route

In the reports, Rutledge and Bukowski are very detailed- leaving no question that they are the only units involved in the pursuit with Yonts. Their reports, patrol car #’’s, radio call #’’s – coincide with the actions and information of the 2 units in the VHS recordings- these are the two units the videos of the pursuit were recorded in. Yet, Bukowski goes into a detailed explanation for why he didn”t have video tape to record the pursuit. Almost as though he wants someone to notice the discrepancy….

Video Frames and Bukowski Report

There were only 3 patrol cars involved. The video recordings are from the 2nd and 3rd units. One of those units was Bukowski in unit #5918. Bukowski states in his report that he did not have working video.
So where did this tape which is time stamped and coded unit 5918 come from – better yet, when was it recorded?

It’s also interesting that both videos go static and cut out seconds before the collision and cut back in after the collision is over with.

2/8/2005 – this is making me crazy! This tape was recorded in unit 5918 but Bukowski says he did not have video tape. I’m tempted to call and ask him point blank how this tape came from his car if he didn’t have tape……….
